Saint Vincent Madelgarius, born in Strépy back in the 7th century, founded a monastery in Hautmont (FR) and became a monk there himself. When he wanted more peace and solitude, he returned to Belgium and built another one in Soignies, right at the spot where he dreamt there should be one. Caught the scallop shell in the painting? Well, the route along this particular wall is part of the pelgrimage route to Compostella.
